My shitzu has a spot that looks very much like ring worm according to the images on the net. It is not on her legs and stomach though as those pics display. It is on the upper part of her left side. Is that something else other then ring worm?
I took her to the vet 6-8 weeks ago when I first got her. She had excessive itching and I have been giving her baby shampoo baths since then. She finished her antibiotic he subscribed also. But that was about 4 weeks before the spot came up. Thanks Pearls Owner |

Human baby shampoo is very drying. Stop using it. Get a shampoo that is soap-free and fragrance free made for dogs.
Ringworm is not that common in adult dogs. You should see the vet. It is much more likely to be allergy related and a secondary infection. |

Hi Pearly Girl,
It is difficult to do the proper analysis by viewing her skin area only. Your vet might use a wood's lamp to check for ringworm, a microscopic diagnosis or grow a culture from the skin scraping as well. If it is ringworm, the vet may prescribe a shampoo, cream or even medication. Ringworm and other skin problems have similar appearances as skin allergies, yeast infections or skin parasites.
