I've heard of 1 other dog doing this...she was an intact female and would do it when in heat. Does she do anything else odd? Like flagging (presenting her rear and waving her tail)? Any vaginal discharge? I would guess its probably a learned behavior, but rarely a dog can have an ovarian remnant left inside of them. They can exhibit odd signs like this. When the remnant is removed the issues go away. Just a thought.

no other signs and no discharge. i thought the same thing at first as i had a male cat that was fixed and then found out it wasnt right. Anyway, i have been researching the web and can not find anything. i am at a loss here. it is kind of weird when she starts doing this, esp when guests come over, and even weirder still is the fact that she only dose it around our hava-tzu male. well ty for you idea. hope i can get more.

Are you able to interrupt her? Like grab a treat and play a game? If its behavioral and you can consistently interrupt and redirect her attention, you can decrease the incidence.
Another suggestion is to give her mind some work. Feeding her in food toys (Busy Buddy, Nina O. toys, kongs) would be a very effective method. You could also hide her meal around a room so she could search for it. A couple short training sessions per day would also help. The idea would be to give her stimulation from another, more positive outlet. |

I forgot to mention...I'm almost positive your vet can check hormone levels to rule out the ovarian remnant.
