I have a 5 month old Border Collie that will run after a ball or frisbee with fierce intensity but when it comes to bringing it back...not so much. I have tried several tactics like cheering with enthusiasm, turning my back, walking away and sitting down until she brings it back to me (but that rarely happens). Each tactic has had varying results which I have tried to emphasize on however nothing has worked with convincing results that I am headed in the right direction. I understand that she is only 5 months old but she has already mastered several tricks and I don't understand why retrieving wouldn't be a favorite thing for a border collie. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

You can shape this with the clicker. Is that something you are familiar with?

We have a clicker, but haven't tried it nor have I ever used one. I'd be interested in any pointers. Another new command that she has nearly mastered is touching the frisbee before I throw it as a reward. This hasn't yet resulted in any improvements with the retrieving part but I'm sure it is something that we can build on.
