we have had a puppy for 4 weeks he has never done a poo in the house he has always gone out in to the garden but when he has had a wee in the garden he will come into the house and wee mainly in the front room he always gets praised and a treat when he does a wee/poo in the garden he uses training pads in the kitchen during the night but for some reason he still wee`s when he is let in the front room anyone got any tips to try and stop this. thankyou

Don't let him in unless you have just taken him out and you are actively watching him (that means you are literally looking at your dog the entire time). If you note sniffing, distract your dog with something else.

thanks for that (jmm) he mainly does it while we are there in veiw of us i think think we need to watch him more than we usually do we are trying to read the signs of him about to do it

I think you are right on. And remember not to give him access if you know or suspect he needs to go. You can also try leashing him to you (attach the leash to your belt buckle). This will help force you to watch and not let him wander off.

think we might be getting to grips with this( touch wood) as soon as he starts to sniff round we are distracting him and taking him outside where he is going to the toilet we are then praising him as we have been since we first got him he is also using the puppy mats next to the backdoor now if he needs to go and cant get out this only happens if we are out but we dont leave him any longer than one hour so i think we are making some headway now

we have been giving him treats when he has gone to the toilet outside so it seems to be working though i think it will help him along a bit more when we can take him for a walk which will be in 5 days.
